What is shown in the photo is a road project that was started and stopped twice from Madinah Warabe town of Silte zone to Bojebar across Alcho Wuriro district.
The condition of the road is currently putting the community in a difficult situation and due to the extensive digging and cutting, it has become difficult to even take expectant mothers to the Zonal Health Center.
The contract of the first contractor was terminated and the work was given to the second contractor, but the contract was terminated by the Ethiopian Roads Administration a few months ago due to his inability to perform according to the contract and his poor performance.
If this happens, it is said that the work will be completed in a short time and the community will be relieved, but nothing new has been seen.
Sayfedin, a member of the local Tikvah Ethiopian family, said, “Although the community has been patiently waiting for the government’s immediate response, the issue has remained a stalemate.”
“What’s worse, with the winter, the road has become impassable,” he added.
The local community said that the government should pay attention to this road project and find a solution and make our voice heard so that the work can be completed immediately.
