According to the statement sent to Bisrat Radio, the Food and Drug Authority of Ethiopia has urged the public not to use products that are produced without meeting the mandatory standards and labeling requirements of Ethiopia.

Abera Demeke, Director of Public Communication Directorate of the authority, told Bisrat Radio that 91 different types of food products are banned. They include 46 types of iodized salt, 27 types of cooking oil, 1 type of candy, 5 types of achetto, 2 types of peanut butter and 1 type of vanilla flavored products. .

In the inspection of the market by the authorities, they do not meet the Ethiopian mandatory standards and descriptive text requirements. Moreover, the findings during the inspection show that the products mostly do not have the expiration date, the name of the manufacturer, the mandatory level mark, serial number or address on the product.

The authorities urged the public not to use the substances that the product should contain, as they are not known in the contract and do not have permission from the relevant health regulatory bodies. As a precautionary measure, the official office urged the public to pay attention and be careful by disclosing the type of product and the gaps found.
